Phil Robertson Biography

Phil Robertson,  star of the television reality series Duck Dynasty, was born  April 24, 1946 in Vivian, Louisiana, USA.  Brought up in a poor family of two sisters  (Judith and Janice) and four brothers (James, Harold, Thomas, and Silas), his lodgings were squalid, lacking electricity, running water, and bathroom facilities.  Food was obtained from fruits and vegetables in the garden, pigs, poultry, fishing,  and hunting deer, squirrels, and other game.

Phil said to Parade Magazine in August of 2013, “We were so poor as kids. I didn’t even see a bathtub, running water, hot water, commode–we didn’t have any of that...

Phil Robertson Not Interested In Senate Run

A Democratic poll in the state of Louisiana shows that only one candidate could be beat the incumbent senator Mary Landrieu, and that candidate would be Phil Robertson.  Fortunately for Mary, Phil is not interested in the job.   Phil’s son, Al Robertson, said that Phil preferred to focus on Christ rather than politics.  “While Phil is humbled and honored that so many fellow Louisianans have confidence in him, he has no interest in running for public office,” Al said.  “He is interested in helping the electorate know more about the gospel of Christ, so they, in turn, can elect more godly men and women to serve and lead our great country.”

Can you imagine the press coverage of the election if Phil had decided to run?  In December, Phil was embroiled in a controversy when he made c...

Duck Dynasty Resuming Production

Al Robertson, the elder sibling of Willie, Jase and Jep, has reported that this Monday, the cast will resume filming of the Season 5 finale and parts of Season 6. The filming will be the first since Phil Robertson’s controversial comments about homosexuality. Originally, Phil was suspended from further production, but A&E later reversed that decision, and Phil is expected to appear in the finale.

The “Beardless Bro” says hunting season is over and it is time to shave off his beard so he can go out among the “shaved skins” to promote Duck Commander and the family. Al has typically not had a beard in his appearances on the show, but he grows one every duck season...

Duck Dynasty Ratings Down Some

Wednesday’s episode of Duck Dynasty “only” averaged 6.65 million viewers. That is a pretty significant drop from last year’s average of 9.4 million viewers per episode. It was still the third most watched show on Wednesday night for the 18-49 year-olds, only behind American Idol and Modern Family. Some are saying this is fallout from Phil Robertson’s comments made last month about gays . Others are saying it is natural for shows to lose viewers as time progresses. Yet others are saying they are getting sick of the show and that the jokes are becoming repetitive. What do you think? Please comment below.

National Chick-PHIL-A Day

Tuesday, Jan 21, 2014 was officially deemed National Chick-Phil-A day. Fans of Phil Robertson decided to show their support for him  after his recent controversy with gay rights groups, by organizing a “support Phil” day at Chick-Fil-A restaurants throughout the country.   Supporters say that they think Phil is going through something similar to what Chick-fil-A’s President Dan Cathy went through after he commented on gay marriage in 2012.  They decided that the best way to show support for Phil and Chick-fil-A was to meet at the nation’s Chick-fil-A restaurants, just like hundreds of thousands of people did in 2012 during the Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day .

Chick-fil-A company officials are distancing themselves from the event and are not officially associated with it...

New Line of Duck Commander Guns

I’m sensing some more outrage directed at the  Duck Dynasty cast, this time from the anti-gun  and animal rights crowd.  Mossberg, the firearms company, has just launched a new line of guns with the Duck Commander brand.  The line will include nine shotguns, two semiautomatic rifles and a semiautomatic pistol.  All of the guns will feature a waterfowl pattern camouflage finish and will come with an American flag bandana like Willie Robertson often wears.

To promote the guns, Mossberg has released four video ads on its website.  In one of the ads, Phil Robertson asks, “Do you know what makes me happy ladies and gentlemen? To blow a mallard drake’s head smooth off.”  I’m sure that will get them in an uproar.

Here are the ads:

Not Again – Phil Robertson Controversy Part II

In the newest controversy to hit Phil Robertson, critics are accusing him of being a pedophile for suggesting to a teenage boy that he marry his girlfriend when she is 15 or 16 years old presumably so the young man can teach his wife while she is young.  Phil, clearly speaking tongue-in-cheek, offers a young man some “river rat counseling” and  says that one should find a girl who will “pick your duck”, meaning clean the feathers from the duck after the hunt.  He advises that waiting until 20 years old to marry  will not get your duck picked and  “the only pickin’ that will take place is your pocket”.  He then goes on to state,  “You need to check with Mom and Dad about that, of course”.

In his book “Happy, Happy, Happy: My life and legacy as the Duck Commander,” Phil says that a t...

He’s Back! Phil Robertson Reinstated

After less than  two weeks, A&E TV network has lifted Phil Robertson’s suspension from the Duck Dynasty show.  Phil’s comments about homosexuality in an interview with GQ Magazine landed him in hot water with the network after gay rights advocacy groups, including GLAAD,  complained, and they suspended him indefinitely on Dec 18, 2013.  Now, just 10 days later, the network has reversed its decision after a huge outcry of Duck Dynasty supporters.  A&E released a statement saying that Phil  made it clear he would “never incite or encourage hate” and therefore “A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family.”

A&E also said, “Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man’s views...

Phil Robertson Suspended From Duck Dynasty Indefinitely

Phil Robertson and been suspended from the Duck Dynasty show  for an indefinite period of time according to A&E Television.   Comments he made in GQ Magazine article sparked outrage in the gay and lesbian community, with GLAAD demanding to know if A&E supported Phil’s comments (see “GLAAD Not Happy, Happy, Happy”).   A&E released a statement saying “We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty. His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and phil-robertsonchampions of the LGBT community.”

I’m interested to see how this all pans out.  Duck Dynasty is A&E’s top show and Phil Robertson is its biggest star...

Snubbed?

Several articles have been headlining their stories with the word “snubbed”, implying that Phil and Jase Robertson had some sort of issue or concern appearing on Barbara Walter’s list of Fascinating People of 2013 television special.   It’s not that at all.  Jase and Phil were not in New York with the rest of the family to appear in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and film the Walter’s special because they were back home doing what they love most – hunting.  Alan, the oldest son, said that Jase and Phil meant no disrespect to Barbara Walters.  “When it comes to Dad and Jase, ducks trump just about anything from late November to late January, it’s just the way they roll!”, he said.

Miss Kay even tells Barbara on the show that “Between November and January, I told him I didn’t ever ...
