We Want Phil Back!

A new Facebook page is demanding a boycott of A&E Television until A&E brings Phil back to the show.  The Facebook page “Boycott A&E Until Phil Robertson is Put Back on Duck Dynasty” is in response to A&E suspension from the show because of comments he made in a GQ Magazine article  ( see Phil Robertson Suspended From Duck Dynasty Indefinitely ).   They ask that we don’t watch any A&E show until Phil is re-instated.  Although the page is only a little over 1 day old, it has already racked up 1.1 million likes.

Apparently there are a lot of people who either share Phil’s beliefs or they believe that Phil should be free to express them.  I’m surprised that A&E rushed to suspend him when most of the time these type of situations are long and drawn out ( think Paula Dean, Martin Bashir or Alec Baldwin ).   I think it is unlikely that A&E will back down and lift the suspension, since it will make them appear like they give into pressure.  Hopefully the backlash and boycott will make them reconsider and perhaps come up with an alternative, less severe reaction.

The Robertsons have officially responded to the controversy with this statement:

“We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E’s decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart’ and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.”

Once again, we wish the best for Phil and the Robertsons.  Leave your comments in the “Leave a Reply” section below.

  1. Hope A & E goes down for not respecting Phil’s right to free speech. No Phil no show and I love the show. Everyone can watch with out fear of foul language.

  2. I’d like to see Phil and his family leave the A&E cable network and move their show to another network who will allow Phil’s family to express their faith freely on and off of the show without holding them in contempt. It’s clear that the A&E network wants nothing to do with Christianity on their network unless it’s portrayed in a fashion that’s convienent for them, makes them lots of money and “Meets the Network’s standards”(Probably understandably so as thats their job). The problem with this is the bible, faith, and Christianity don’t exist for us to meet A&E’s standards.

I read that A&E bleeped out “In Jesus name we pray” before Amen in the Robertson’s prayers on the show. That along with booting Phil for sharing scripture about homosexuality from text in the Bible is rediculous. This is a Christian family that believes in the Bible and lives every day doing the best that they can practicing their faith.
    1. Phil should “Not” appologize to anyone for voicing his religious beliefs, nor should anyone. Especially when it was in direct reference to a couple of versus right out of the bible.
    2. Phil should consider taking his family and leaving A&E for beind scolded for sharing his religious beliefs to a reporter at his home “Off of the job”.

  3. I believe Phil has the right to express his beliefs, everyone else does. Besides he was quoting from the Bible, who is going to fire the Bible. These people are some of the best people as far as human beings go, they have good kids and live a good clean life. We all don’t have to agree on each others faith or beliefs to be good people. .I hope they go to another channel too….Somebody else tried to tell people what to believe, what to say and what to think….I thought this was a free country….

  4. phil i think you are a man of god ,i feel the same way that being gay man or woman is wrong in gods eyes,i stand beside what you said 100 percent,i am very blunt myself some people just cant handle the truth, all i can say is that the truth shell sent you free, god bless you and your family your number 1 fan leroy

  5. Thank God we’re in America. Phil can say whatever he wishes to say. We don’t need to agree that’s our right. Just as Kimand the “Kardashian’s” can show off the mixed child they brought into the spotlight. To me, there are so many more dishonorable and immoral things that they’ve made public, I just can’t understand all the craziness.

Phil us so funny, so us Si, Ms. Kaye and the rest of the family. I look forward to this show and actually look forward to replaying the episodes. It is so funny and I need the silly laughs it brings me. It’s good holistic medicine and I’d be happy to pay my co-pay to continue viewing it as “good medicine”. Thank you Robinson Family. I didn’t care much for your show at first but definitely grew to love each of you. God bless all of you and nay God’s hands touch prescious Mia. She us so very precious and you are blessed to have her part of your lives.
